Donovan's

Donovan's restaurant has been a Norwalk institution since 1889. This authentic saloon tells the story of Jeremiah Donovan, a successful saloon keeper and distinguished member of the U.S. House of Representatives who served as the Mayor of Norwalk from 1917-1921. Donovan's was a second home to local politicians throughout Jeremiah’s tenure. "Battling Bat Kunz", a regional boxing champ who owned the bar for a couple of decades is seen throughout the salon in the massive collection of vintage prizefighter pictures that adorn the walls. Current owner, Richie Ball restored the bar in 1979 to its original Victorian style and has since been the anchor restaurant and gathering place at the forefront of the now revitalized Norwalk neighborhood known as “SoNo”. Donovan’s award-winning NE clam chowder is a must-try!
